Local anglers for years have went to crawler harnesses for easily filling their limits long after the big crowds of anglers have left the river. Also you can catch some of the bigger fish after the spawn is over by trolling these just into the mouth of lake Erie (where they go to rest up after spawning, (out of the strong current). I have caught many big post spawn fish anywhere from 8-14 FOW using in line weights/planer boards. I troll just a couple feet under the surface over the rock piles and have watched many walleye swim up to and inhale the harness as I'm trolling. No joke !!
